Week ending 4-14-19

Sunday: One conference when my sister who loves bread (and lives in China where there isn't a lot) came, Kylie made her lots of yummy food. So now it's a conference tradition. Sunday Kylie and I made ham and cheese rolls, apricot braid, and a tasty cheese loaf that was gone before I could take a picture of it. They weren't the healthiest but at least we used whole wheat and sprouted spelt flour and nitrate-free meats and we ate lots of lettuce, tomatoes and carrots with them.

Playing in the hammock after conference.
Andy's shirt after the Saturday sessions.
During the closing song Makenna said Andy cut his finger on Spencer's pocketknife. She said she'd been trying to wash it off but it wouldn't stop bleeding.

Makenna supporting him as he tells his injury story. It was so cute.
Luckily Nathan was home and got it all bandaged up with a butterfly and a splint.

It was a lovely afternoon so while Nathan talked to his cousin on the phone, Kylie and Madalyn packed up for Provo (Madalyn was dropping Kylie off and staying with Aunt Sara), I took the rest of the kids on a beautiful spring walk. It was cold, windy and rainy the rest of the week, so I'm glad we enjoyed Sunday and Monday's nice weather.
We love to stop on the covered bridge and listen to all the birds in the trees there.
Monday: I took the kids to the park to further enjoy the nice weather before the storms came.

Thomas and I jumped off the swings and practiced sticking our landings.

That night we had foil dinners and roasted marshmallows for FHE. Everyone was super helpful (Lexi and Tom rode bikes to the store for the marshmallows and graham crackers since I try not to buy those things anymore, little kids found sticks for the fire, etc) and it was a great campfire. Usually it's pretty stressful with the little ones crying and baby needing to be held or fed, but now that she's older it was way more fun for me. I look forward to many more to come the next 6 months. :)

Andy got marshmallows all over his shirt and jeans. It looked like he had bird poop all over him. Haha!

After FHE Sam and Andy were supposed to be brushing their teeth but got into Spencer's electric razor and tried it out on themselves.
Getting ready for a haircut to attempt to make it look better.

Selfies I assume Lexi was sending to Kylie?? or maybe Madalyn as she was at Aunt Sara's.

Tuesday: Edible playdoh while some of the middle kids got to go play with neighbors.
Wednesday: Talea eating a plateful of cooked broccoli. She is a terrific eater.
Saturday: Frosting Kaitlyn's birthday cake.
Yummy tacos for lunch with sprouted corn tortillas and grass-fed beef.
Kaitlyn's plate.

Kaitlyn wrote her name with mini oreos.
I try to be as healthy as we can 80-90% of the time but life is fun and especially on birthdays I let the kids choose what they want. Mostly they still choose some healthy options and splurge on others. Kaitlyn made a yummy whole wheat cake and splurged on the oreos. It all turned out delicious and so filling that nobody could finish their slice.

Making a wish! I can't believe she's 9 years old! She's at such a delightful age, always happy, fun, helpful, capable and sweet.

Madalyn and Spencer were gone in the morning but Nathan would be going to work after lunch so he wanted us to have the party before he left. So Madalyn and Spencer missed it but Nathan slept through some of it so he missed some too. :) Haha. It still worked out great though. I love doing birthdays at lunchtime so then we can play the rest of the day. Plus it was fast Sunday so I was done cooking for the day and that was nice too.
Opening presents.
I got her a little ballerina dress for her doll.
My mom got her a scooter and someone gave us some toys at Christmas to give to our kids including this doll outfit but I saved it for Kait's birthday.
Friday I took Kaitlyn to a consignment sale and she spent $11 getting a nice shorts outfit, church outfit, and ballet shoes. We had a great time together and came home feeling blessed and happy.
