Week ending 8-2-20

We had a pretty good week. It started off great with a visit from Peepaw from Florida last Sunday and Monday. It's always great to have family visit to shower us with love and attention and give us a break from the daily grind.
He came specifically to give Alexis her patriarchal blessing.
All the kids showed Peepaw their sketch books.
I took these from my place on the couch holding a sleeping Talea.

She never falls asleep on me anymore so this was sweet.
Gathering in my room for Alexis's patriarchal blessing. Peepaw is the stake patriarch for his home stake and was delighted to come give a grandchild one for the first time.
The picture Peepaw took. I wish I'd taken one of him and Alexis afterward.
We had an early dinner together and then brownie sundaes.

I loved watching them goof off with Peepaw and take selfies.
The selfie from Peepaw's phone.
Eating popcorn and staying up till 11:30 doing a puzzle.
Monday: Showing Peepaw our garden at Brother Tarbet's.
Brother Tarbet and Alexis cutting flowers.
Alaia who we were babysitting really took to Peepaw and held his hand and showed him the chickens.
Peepaw taught everyone how to do back tucks on the trampoline. Kaitlyn caught on really fast.
Alexis arranging her flowers.
Her face is so funny. She struggled a little grasping how to do it and being brave but she got a lot better.
Sitting around awaiting turns.
Spencer can already do them on the tramp so he had Peepaw spot him on the hard ground.
Madalyn's first try. She caught on right away and did great!
Peepaw got us pizza and Spencer took a whole one for himself. :)
Makenna made dragon puppets with some scrapbooking paper Aunt Kira sent up with Peepaw.
She cut out all those curly-cues and glued them on individually.
Tuesday: Playing doctor with Talea, her new favorite game.
Wednesday: I asked Alexis and Madalyn to give me a haircut-their first time.
Alexis did most of it and she did a great job.
I took these 3 to the store and the library. Two people can go in at a time so we took turns and enjoyed waiting in the shade. I love taking my kids on errands and having time with them.

Thursday: Nature camp with 8 year-olds.

Thomas showed the boys how to get the log to smoke.
The forest is so tall this time of year. I don't usually hike in the summer because it's too hot and crowded so I haven't seen the wildflowers so tall before.
 Lydia and Makenna
Jackson and Mihiail.

Waiting for the boys to come back from the lake.
Hiking back down 3 hours later than we should have. It was hot and the kids were exhausted.
Passing by the place we'd stopped for lunch and wishing we'd stayed there and played the whole time since we had a lot of issues, kids getting lost, kids needing to be carried, etc going to the lake.
Never got a whole group picture, but here are a few back at my house.
Saturday: Peach cobbler with peaches we picked from our neighbor's tree that hangs over into our yard.
Spencer off to a piano recital.
Sunday: Madalyn's turn to play doctor with Talea.
