Week ending 6-19-16

This was a great week. Madalyn was at BYU young musicians camp and Kylie was at Aunt Sara's for a few days and youth conference at the Manti Pageant for a few days. Nathan worked late everyday. The kids and I worked on a lot of projects: fixing bikes, cleaning the garage, setting up shelves and organizing the cold storage room, organizing the basement, putting up blinds, getting new couches from a friend, and making a doll front pack. I don't have pictures of it except for Thursday, which I took with the ipod.
Thursday: Alexis made a restaurant called Hungry Holladays. She made up a delicious menu and posted it outside by one of the dining room bay windows to make a drive-thru. That window had a slit in the screen so it held a paper microphone perfectly. The other window screen she took out where we could pick up our order. She worked really hard on all the prep work and then making all of our food for us. It was super fun.
Here's where you place your order.

Me getting my order of chicken tamales and cherry tomatoes and milk in an old Einstein Bagel box.
That night we cooked hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire pit. It was hard without the older girls here to help (and Nathan only comes home for dinner on Mondays), but nobody got burned and we had a lot of fun.

Weeks 6-5 and 6-12

Our camera is broken so we don't have a lot of pictures, just ipod pictures that aren't very good. No so much fun for blogging. Here are some from the week our camera broke and the next week.
June 2: Bringing in groceries from Costco.

Buddy lunch.
Matching lunches of chicken nachos with their matching turquoise cups.

Doing candy experiments for some summer school.

Madalyn spent the whole afternoon playing with Makenna, her buddy, in the sandbox. It was so sweet.

June 4: Madalyn also spent a whole Saturday playing doctor with the little kids.
I wish the pictures weren't so fuzzy. They have quite the setup.

A crocheted diaper bag doubles as a sling.

The ziplock bag of water is IV fluid with yarn taking it into Madalyn's arm.

June 7: Some notes Nathan found in his closet one night.

We got a kick out of them. Nathan is still unsure about keeping his job or starting his own practice. The kids periodically give him subtle reminders of what they'd like him to do.

June 8: I went on a mommy date with Spencer and while we were gone Kylie did a huge beauty parlor. First everyone had a snack of bagels and blueberries and drew fancy, extreme hairstyles from the 1800's.
Here's a sample of a drawing that wasn't blurry.

She put the 3 desks like this and put lots of hair stuff on top of them.

These are the salon chairs. Fit for a queen.
Makenna looking at herself in the mirror, awaiting her turn.
Kaitlyn getting a huge updo.

Something is stuffed under all that hair. It looked fantastic in person.

Kylie putting something under Makenna's hair to create her updo.

Alexis's hair was the biggest of all; here was a spray bottle under her hair, so it stuck out 8." It was hilarious. They had a great time and made wonderful memories.

Sunday Kylie fixed Makenna's hair like this: upside down flip ponytails into two buns.
Here's how she did Kaitlyn's.

Week ending 6-5-16

We had a fairly lazy week. We all got a stomach bug from Monday through Sunday. We did a lot of lying around, reading, and playing quiet games. The piano hardly even played. Our camera broke after the first of the week, so we don't have pictures from the rest of the week. Now we have to figure out how to replace it.
Monday: Thomas reading Sam's new favorite books: Five Little Monkeys

We went to the cemetery where Nathan's grandparents are buried and were overwhelmed with how many people were there. Memorial Day is greatly celebrated here. In the afternoon a pageant friend, who heard Madalyn was sick, brought her puppies to help Madalyn feel better.
We're not exactly dog people, but they were awfully cute. She sells them for $1,000 each.

Tuesday: Alexis and I cut up this box to make a desk drawer organizer. It turned out really good. Meanwhile, Andy had fun playing in it.

And that's all there is this week.
