Week ending 5-31-20

We had a good week. We were at Ben and Janet's until Tuesday and then did our normal stuff the rest of the week.
Last Sunday: The kids' first time swinging from the loft. This is Kaitlyn. I got pictures and Janet took some videos.

Makenna
Samuel. He was braver than Kait and Kenna for his first time. He just held on and jumped off; Kait and Kenna had to be talked into it. But then the next day he was too scared whereas the girls couldn't get enough of it.
Feeding the sheep.

I took Andy and Tilly for a walk along the canal road to see the cows and enjoy the beautiful country Sunday. It was so peaceful. I loved talking with them and hearing their insights.
Hmm. Guess this picture of the cows didn't turn out.
The front of the house.
Looking out from their backyard.
I loved looking out the upstairs bedroom that I slept in and seeing the vast expansive prairie.
Tilly and Andy. To give you an idea of how massive Ben and Janet's house is.

Monday: Starting the flooring in the den. First we opened and organized the boards so we didn't lay down the same patterned piece twice. Then we put down the black paper. Then we started measuring, cutting, and snapping together the flooring pieces, making sure each line was perfectly straight so it didn't end up crooked by the time we got to the window.
This is were the kitchen will go.
Looking out the front door where the front yard will go. Spencer spent the day cutting rebar for their banister and railings.
Ben told someone to take these pictures to show Spencer's girlfriend. :)
The sparks were pretty impressive.
Dancing to the country music we always had playing.
Almost done! Only a few more rows to go!
Meanwhile Tad played with my 5 youngest. They made snow angels in the dirt piles, made a slip in slide with the hose and a tarp, and played they were in the wilderness trying to survive. She got them breakfast and lunch and entertained them all day so I could work.

At 7 we finally quit and had a delicious bbq dinner, made tastier from working so hard all day.
Their 1400 sq foot deck is almost twice as big as our 761 sq foot first house!

We burned the flooring boxes and roasted marshmallows.
After I put the youngest 3 to bed, the oldest 7 played night games inside and out with their cousins until 11pm and had a great time.

Tuesday: Alexis tries the swing for the first time.

Wednesday: Almost every day Tilly gets out her notebook, says she wants to do school, writes her name, closes the book, puts it back in the drawer, announces she's done with school, and walks away. It's so cute. She's been writing her name well since age 2 1/2 and now her notebook is full of pages with huge "Tilly"'s written on them. :)
Watering our plants at Brother Tarbet's garden. I guess the picture didn't turn out, but they're getting pretty big. It's been hot and sunny this week.
Thursday: Last day of school neighborhood party at the Nelsons'.

Kait and Tilly
Saturday: Last movie party before Kylie leaves for Charlotte on Wednesday.

Week ending 5-24-20

Monday: Makenna reading.
Eating school lunch at the park. The parks opened on my birthday and we're so excited.
Tuesday: Having dear friends, the Webbers over for dinner. We met them when we lived Texas and they had 1 baby and I had 2. I'm so happy we've kept in contact over the years and they visit us when they come to Utah. (They now live in Peru and work for the US embassy.)
Lettuce, onions, and kale coming along nicely.
Wednesday: Ruth and Tilly played together nicely for 2 whole days straight.
Friday: Getting school lunches and taking off for Wyoming to visit cousins.
Checking out the Hofmann's new loft. They only had the log frame when we came 2 years ago and now they have so much done!!
Eating foil dinners.
Playing on the rope swing in the playroom.

Starting to lay the vinyl planking down in the living room.
Lunch break: Taking pictures of the makeshift kitchen set up in the garage.
The big fridges are just pantries for the time being. But the other fridge works.
Lots of drawers and cupboards and counter space. They don't have an oven set up but have a microwave, camping stove and crock pot.
Back to work. This is my brother Ben and his daughter, Toad (DeEtte.) Janet broke her pelvis and wrist so she's out of commission this summer. Toad was awesome helping with the construction, watching the kids, and cooking all the meals. She's an amazing 14 year old and I loved working with her.
Andy was engrossed with how Ben ran the saws.

View from the stairs.
What will be the yoga studio.
Master bedroom (but saw area for now.)
The windows make this not a great picture, but the wood is so beautiful.
Looking over the balcony. Almost finished! We're to the other side of the living room. We started at 9am and finished at 7pm.  This is me, Tad, and Spencer setting this row.

Spencer and Ben hammering them in tightly.

Toad, Alexis, and Kylie opened new boxes of planking and sorted them, then put them in the rows to set.
Tilly showing Kaitlyn a piece of chocolate Tad gave her.

The telehandler about to get the baby grand piano out of the garage and carry it to the front dor.

The telehandler driving by the side of the house with the piano.
Dropping it off on the deck where a bunch of guys carried it inside.
Watching the excitement. The Hofmanns have been waiting for a living room to put their piano in for 3 years.

Kylie getting to play it.
Waiting for church to start.

Singing around the piano.
Andy and Samuel eating their lunch on the steps with Talea photobombing in the back. :)
