Week ending 8-27-17

Sunday evening: Nathan, Madalyn, and Thomas drove to WY to stay with family and see the eclipse. At home our neighbor called us to come pick some of his vegetables. Andy screamed when some of the kids climbed over the wall without him. So I got him a stool and we watched from a distance. They were so cute skipping in their Sunday dresses and swinging grocery bags. On their way back I snapped a picture. It's hard to see them, but I'll remember the sweet memory of silhouetted children marching across a bright green lawn in their Sunday clothes, after playing amongst the tall corn fields and abundant garden.

Monday: The first pictures of the shadows during the eclipse.

It was fun to see the shadows changing so fast.

Some of our neighbors from our cul-de-sac and over the wall came over to watch it with us.
It was a lot of fun.

Our own shadows were pretty cool. We could see crescents all over them.

Tuesday night the oldest 4 kids were at mutual, Thomas was at scouts, and I just had the younger 5. We spied on the YM/YW cookout going on a few houses down and played in the rain. These 3 had a lot of fun on the swing.

Kaitlyn wanting her picture taken because she liked her curly hair.
Alexis holding Talea for me after I was tired of holding her all day and having trouble getting her to take a nap.

Wednesday night: Our old Greenville Little League team made it to the World Series! We had a fun little party watching them play and win! Unfortunately they lost the US Championships on Saturday.

Thursday: First day of high school for the 3 oldest. We had a fun outdoor lunch with just the younger 7. It feels so empty with the olders gone, but it's nice to be able to focus on these guys' homeschool work while they're gone. They are each taking 3 classes: seminary, orchestra/band, and French/ASL. Kylie and Spencer take orchestra and Madalyn takes band. Kylie and Madalyn take French and Spencer is doing ASL. Luckily we arranged it so all the classes are at the same time so they'll be going on "B" days, (every other day) from 8-1. We miss them and have to rearrange our group subjects to do them when they come home on those days, but they're getting good experiences.

She'll be 2 months old tomorrow!

It looked like Talea was slugging Thomas.

"I can punch him in my sleep."
Samuel fell asleep at 5:40pm. I put him in his bed and he still slept through the night.
He usually goes to bed at 7.
I've been trying to get Andy to sleep in Sam's toddler bed (he's been sleeping in the basement playroom b/c it's cooler down there) but he refuses. So Saturday I figured I'd put his bumpers and sheet on the toddler bed and put it in the same place his crib was and see if I could trick/convince him into sleeping in it. It worked! At least for last night and his nap today. We'll see if it continues to work. Next step is to see if we can move him into the little kids' room because I want to put the crib back here and put Talea in it. Alexis and Andy have been sharing a room while Kait, Kenna, and Sam share. Alexis wants Andy to move in with them and she wants to share with Talea instead. Talea is sleeping 8 hours a night and I'm ready to move her out of the bassinet in our room and into the crib in Lexi's.
Andy wanting Madalyn taking pictures of him.

Week ending 8-20-17

Last Sunday we got a wonderful NC-type rainstorm. It actually poured. I wish it would do this every few days; I miss the pouring rain so bad.
Even though it was Sunday we couldn't help but go out and play in it the short time it lasted.

During play church after regular church, Kaitlyn's baby got blessed.
Kaitlyn dressed her doll, Rosie, in the same dress she wore and then compared the pictures.

Monday: Eating dinner. Talea looked so cute sitting with Kylie while I served everyone.

I love watching my 10 kids crowd around the table and eat happily together.
Tuesday night: It FINALLY got into the 60's before bedtime so we stayed up late reading on the deck. I've been a little envious of Utah County which cools off about 5-8 degrees more than we do. We've been stuck in the upper 60's and low 70's at night while they get lower 60's and even 50's.
Talea got to wear a night gown instead of a onesie to bed.

I love watching Andy talk and interact with Talea.

Wednesday: Madalyn looked available and I needed a break from holding Talea so I slipped her into Madalyn's arms at her desk and she looked so cute.

Eating ice cream cones for snack.
One of the little kids put these shades on Talea and took a bunch of pictures.

Thursday: This is our school room while I read our history book to them. I love my children and I love homeschooling. Moments like these make me happy.

Alexis took these pictures of her gender reveal party for her septuplets. She's so cute.

The little boys are generously sharing the play laptop with Talea.

Friday: We studied Picasso and did a fun art project.

Friday night we had a family movie party; something we haven't done in a really long time. Nathan's rarely home for a movie night, but Kylie had gotten Emperor's New Groove at the library so he came home to watch it. I ended up tucking little kids in bed most of the night, but I saw a few scenes.

Saturday: Kylie and Alexis playing with Talea.

We have a picture of Alexis looking just like this. It's not digital, otherwise I'd post it here.
