Week ending 7-25-21 Surprise couches, driveway work, blueberry picking, Olympics, Pioneer Day

Last Sunday: Kaitlyn, Makenna, and Talea hand sewed blessing dresses for their babies and pretended it was their blessing day.
Monday: These 4 went to a summer camp at an elementary school and had a great time. It's M-Th and free. The kids have never been to a school before so they are enjoying it. I love that they get to experience something like this at a very small school for just a week since they still prefer to homeschool during the school year. Kait and Kenna did nature spy, Samuel did coding, and Anderson did world foods.
When I got home from picking them up there were 3 huge boxes containing new couches! We don't know who they're from. I can't figure out who knew we needed them and knew our address. My first guess is the branch president.
The little boys were so cute pushing one up the sidewalk.

Alexis is going to carry one all by herself. :)

First one done!
Got them all put together. The kids thought it would be funny to do a movie theater seating.

Since we didn't get to do our morning work time with the kids going to their camp, we did it after dinner instead. Alexis stayed behind and put Talea to bed and the rest of us marched up the long driveway with enthusiasm. I loved their good spirits.
We have 100 blueberry bushes by the road so we went to assess if they're worth saving or not. They haven't been taken care of in years and are overrun with small trees, vines, and other bushes.
Between the rows looks good because the cows eat the grass, but the bushes themselves are overgrown.
A mimosa tree growing out of some of the bushes.
I decided for now it was too much work to clear them out, but I'll learn more about blueberries and see if they're worth saving.
Makenna came home with lots of mosquito bites and scratches.
Tuesday: Picking blueberries with my favorite 4 year old. We have 3 bushes in our front yard that have been cared for and have lots of blueberries just beginning to be ripe. Every day we pick some so that the birds and squirrels don't get all the ripe ones.

We picked a bowl of blueberries and a few blackberries and one strawberry. Plus some zucchini and cucumbers and one tomato.

First bag of blueberries for the freezer. I hope we get many more.
Wednesday: After dropping the kids off at their camp I went for a long walk on the greenway. It's so beautiful here. I could have walked for hours if I didn't have kids to go home to.
Alexis, Talea and I did some yard work.
Then I took Talea to the bookmobile for the first time and we enjoyed it. We were the only ones there and the driver was so nice.

Afterwards we went to the park and ate lunch and read our books. The weather was perfect and I could have sat there all day.
Thursday: Talea staining some wood that I was going to use to make a corner shelf for our TV. I was so excited to get it done before the opening ceremonies but in trying to hang it up, it fell and broke. Now I'm back to square one in figuring out a stand/shelf for our TV.
Makenna helping me cut this tree down. It looks small but it was hard because our new saw isn't working that great and kept smoking.
Mowing and trimming the driveway starting at the end of the road and working to our house.
I love watching my kids work and take turns with tools and talk and joke with each other.

The grass grows so thick here in a short amount of time. I had the mower on the highest setting and it still struggled to cut it.
Friday morning: Olympic opening ceremonies party! We watched it live starting at 7am and had a great time. We had cereal, sausage links, donuts, and juice. Not the best, but I failed to plan anything better. I had originially planned an evening party but then found out it would be live in the morning and I liked that because it meant I could sit and watch it without constantly be putting kids to bed.
Would have been great if my stand worked, but we just watched TV on the floor. At least we had new couches and we all had a fun morning.
USA marches in!
Makenna and Samuel were sent to pick blackberries and they filled their aircraft with them. :)
We had the Elders over for dinner and afterward they pushed kids on the old mower.
Saturday: We went to our branch Pioneer Day Activity. First activity was balancing a plastic egg on a spoon. Each child took a turn and I loved that the branch watched and cheered them on.
This is Anderson who dropped his a couple of times.

Showing off the prizes they picked out.
Talea being cute on the table.
Kaitlyn and Talea doing pioneer charades. It was tug-of-war.

A sister named Candy made these cute covered wagon treats.

This is our chapel. There were 20 members there plus us 8. We were the only kids.
Talea with her prizes.

Felt like Christmas! The kids were spoiled by all the prizes but sure loved it. It's fun to get new stuff to play with every once in awhile.

Alexis wanted me to take a picture of the house across the street from the church.
This is a pretty blue/grey house that looked beautiful with the sun shining on it during a storm.
