Summer Happenin's

Besides the kids going to Florida and being in the pageant, we haven't been very busy this summer. Nathan's last day of residency was June 30 and he is awaiting his full unrestricted NC medical license before he can begin practicing. (He'll be splitting his time between research and working at an Internal Medicine, plus being an attending physician at the hospital a few rotations a year.) In the meantime, it's so great having him home everyday. He keeps busy studying for his ABIM Exam in August, working on research, watching the kids when I leave the house, helping out at home, playing with us, and keeping us working like beavers.:)

Here's what we've been up to:

GOING FOR WALKS
It's so nice to have Nathan home so that if only a few kids want to go for a walk I can just take them without having to make everyone go.
WIND BLOWN HAIR AFTER PICKING BLUEBERRIES AND PRODUCE AT A LOCAL FARM

FIXING OUR FOURTH OF JULY DINNER

(One of these days we'll get a real grill.)

DOING OUR HOUR OF WORK
On Nathan's first day home he had a brilliant idea: summer is for work, not play. Every morning since we have spent 30 minutes inside and 30 minutes outside. We've done a lot of cleaning and weed pulling, but it's been great and is now a habit. The kids especially love to hear Nathan sing the "Work Like A Beaver" song. (you can download it on ldsaudio.com)

ALEXIS TURNS 5 ON JULY 12
Nathan took the other kids to the park so that Alexis could have lunch and play with her friends without siblings around.

Opening plates. We always need dishes in our house.

Kylie helped Alexis make her cake because her birthday was on a Monday and Kylie was treats. I felt a little left out because I love to make the cake with the birthday child, but the girls had fun and it turned out great.

I'm homesick for y'all right now. I wanted to list all the pictures I thought were especially cute, but that was pretty much all of them, so... :) Thank you for posting them!!

What a fun trip!! You guys have really been having a fun summer. I'm glad you've been having a good time. You do look really good, Marcie. I can't believe you've had 7 children. What a neat family. :)
