Week ending 2-11-18

Monday: We went to the library and a park again. We're sure enjoying this warm weather. Just wish it would rain because I hate dry ground. 

Wednesday: My little breech baby turned 6! Everyone loves my birth story because I pushed her out while they were wheeling me down the hall to the OR for an emergency c-section. I love the story because it's a time the Lord answered my prayers in a big miraculous way.

My brother and his family, my sister from TN, and my mom from CA all came for Makenna's birthday and to watch the Olympics with us. We had a fun day of playing outside and hanging out.

Friday: We went on a field trip with Lori to a waterfall. Here we're crossing the stream on a log. There are a lot of pictures here for our memory's sake. Feel free to skim. 

Friday night: Watching the Opening Ceremonies! We love the winter Olympics. We had fun party foods and a great evening. I'm so glad my mom and Lori were here for it. 

Saturday: Brady came over again and my other sister, Misty, from Boise as well as Lori's long-time friend. We had a wonderful afternoon and evening hanging out and eating good food together. 

Sunday: My mom's long time friends came over and hung out with us for a few hours. 

For church the girls had heart hair-dos and we all wore red or pink. 

Week ending 2-4-18

I love how the little boys congregate at the piano when Spencer plays. Usually one is on his lap but this time both were standing next to him, humming and pretend playing alongside him. 

When we pulled up from the concerto Alexis and Thomas had made a "congratulations" sign spanning the garage and presented her with origami flowers.

There were some incredibly long, difficult pieces. 

Talea was perfect the whole time at the concert. And when we got home at 9:50pm she was still happy. 

Lexi also made brownies to congratulate the musicians. I wish we could take them out for hot fudge sundaes or something to celebrate like other families do but with little ones needing to go to bed and no extra money, homemade brownies would have to do. Hopefully they'll remember these home celebrations just as fondly as if we went out. 

Friday: Groundhog's Day. Our traditional groundhog peanut butter in cream of wheat.

Friday afternoon we hung out a bit with our ward neighbors who were all out enjoying the mild weather. Our kids got rides on this fun little motorcycle. 

Chick-fil-A opened in 1967, the year we were studying, so we had chicken sandwiches wrapped in wax paper with the Chick-fil-A design drawn on it by Alexis. We pretended to be a little restaurant and had a fun Friday night dinner. 

Talea got into the salad and was really cute chewing on a piece of lettuce. 

Sunday: We saw this cool bird in our tree. Is it a hawk? 

We don't know Utah birds like we know NC ones. 

It's Madalyn's Sweet Sixteen birthday party! Nathan's siblings came and we had a great dinner of Mexican soups. 

I love family get togethers. 

Someone remarked that these two looked like they were having a business meeting. 

Alexis made Madalyn a cardboard camera complete with a roll of film containing some of Madalyn's favorite things: hummingbirds, a grand piano, flowers, a flute, trees, butterflies, etc.

I started to unbutton her dress to put her jammies on when she started being cute again. 

On a treasure hunt to find coupons someone else made her. 

Madalyn with her presents. She got Catch Phrase from my mom, a game book and a mind game from Aunt Sara, and lotion from 1st cousin once removed Millie. I gave her a jump rope and hair clips and the coupons.

She was my hardest labor (1.5 hours) but my easiest child. She was the easiest baby, toddler, child, and teenager. She speaks kindly to everyone and does whatever is asked of her. We're so glad she's in our family.
