Week ending 10-11-20

Monday: The kids spent a lot of time outside. Samuel taught himself to do a back flip on the trampoline and Makenna made a balance beam that Tilly loved.

We made a couple big plates of nachos for dinner. I made refried beans out of organic black beans which turned out great and put them in the middle of the plate surrounded by organic quinoa chips.

After dinner we picked produce from the garden and put names on newly growing pumpkins.
Tuesday: We are enjoying these weeks of cool mornings and warm afternoons by going to the park.
Samuel loves spinning toys.
All the kids on a big spinning toy.
We've been bringing Ruth with us to give her mom a break (she's pregnant) and Tilly a playmate.
Sam and Andy enjoying their lunch.

After playing in the trees for awhile we played on the exercise equipment.

Wednesday: Spencer turned 17! He went to school and then robotics afterward so he didn't come home till 6:00, but he had a great day. He has good friends at school and is enjoying being a senior. Brooke came for dinner and cheesecake and then he opened presents.

Tilly wanting a picture.
I love all the kids crowding around Spencer opening his presents.
One from Alexis was just 17 bags inside each other. Haha! No gift!
I got him a white shirt and a package of socks, the only things he wanted.
Brooke got him the purple tie and CTR tie tac.
Thursday: Nature school!
With COVID the canyons and hikes have been more crowded than ever so it's hard to find a solitary place but we did and had a great time playing and exploring.
Kaitlyn feeding the alpine chipmunks.
Talea asking, "Am I cute?" and wanting me take pictures of her.

This log was Talea's baby in her game of house.

Sam and Andy were discussing whether or not these trees were as tall as the Redwoods.
We found this waterfall created by a downed tree long ago.
There was moss all over the downed tree.

A perfect pool of water to play in.
Talea, Kaitlyn, and Ruth played chickens and took dirt baths.
Climbing up a steep log.

Friday: I was trying to go to the park with our ward playgroup--the first since COVID--but the kids were too busy playing church. :)

Saturday: cleaning out the stuck grass from the lawnmower. They had their swimsuits on from cleaning bathtubs and showers, but later we went swimming so it was a day for swimsuits.
Kaitlyn looked so grown up combing Makenna's hair.
Past time for a haircut!
He usually styles it really nicely so it doesn't look so long, but when I combed it all straight it looked long!
Lexi wanted a trim too.
Kait took all these pictures even though they're probably not too important.

In the afternoon we went swimming at Thomas's orchestra teacher's house. She's so sweet to invite us and it was really relaxing just sitting and talking with her while the kids swam.

When we got home we had cobb salad to start our fast. This is Kait's plate.
Sunday: We opened our new globe we got for school and Samuel did a lesson on the creation for us.
I took this to send to Madalyn as she was texting during dinner about breaking her fast and we were breaking ours. She's praying to know if she should go on a mission in February when she turns 19 and then return just in time for fall 2022 semester. Or she can stay at BYU-I for this winter's term and leave in May and then get back in November of 2022. She has great roommates and scholarships so it's a hard choice!
Our whole wheat pumpkin rolls to go with our pumpkin chili. It's my favorite recipe that uses all of our garden produce in one pot: zucchini, squash, tomatoes, peppers, and pumpkin. Plus onions and garlic I grew and dried earlier in the summer and just put in spice containers.
