Week ending 4-3-22 Madalyn and Spencer get their mission calls!

Madalyn turned her papers in January 27 and Spencer turned his in March 15. Both got theirs the same exact day!! And they're leaving the same day!

Tuesday: Thomas and I installed a new light fixture, much cuter than the old one which I don't have a picture of.

All done except organizing the food and household stuff.
We made birthday cards for Aunt Kira and Great Grandma Vorwaller and I loved this newsy one from Kaitlyn. Thought she'd like a copy of it when she's older.
Cleaning the bathroom for Maddie's mission call party! Both Madalyn and Spencer got missionary email accounts last Saturday so we were sure they'd get their calls on Tuesday but they never came. In the evening we learned that the portal was down. Nobody got their calls.

It's March 29 so only a few days left in March and we still have a few more things to do!
The bookmobile. Gayle has bags lined up for her patrons with books she's picked out for them. I love it! We're the only young family that uses it. Everyone else is elderly and just gets on and gets their bag while we stay awhile and browse.
The little boys ready to check out.
Next we went to the orthodontist where Kaitlyn got braces. It was our 5th time getting braces (Kylie, Spencer, Alexis, and Kaitlyn's first small set) so it wasn't a big deal and I forgot to take pictures. Then we went to the Mt. Airy library. Kait said she only wanted to stay for a few minutes cause she was hungry for lunch, then got a game going with stuffed animals and we stayed for over an hour. :)

I sent these to Madalyn to show her we're not leaving anytime soon. The big kids can enjoy a quiet house a bit longer.
Practicing for Little Women audition. Madalyn, Alexis, Thomas, and Kaitlyn tried out and all got in!! Only 18 people got accepted as there are no ensemble scenes and 20-30 didn't. Their hard work paid off.
Alexis practicing.
The weekly front moving towards us. We got another inch of rain from it and tornado warnings.
Thursday: We were sitting around after lunch trying to think of a project to start when Alexis found a cool mission call app that lets people guess your mission. We were playing on it when Madalyn said, "It's here! I got my mission call! Oh my gosh my mission call is here!" Then she texted Spencer to see if he got his call because they were both expecting them this week.
He didn't answer for 3 minutes so she just called him and woke him up.
Talking to Spencer. He got his too!! Yay! Party!!
We cleaned the house again and watched a movie to kill time.
Then played outside during a break in the rain.

The cherry tree.
Hard to see but all over the grass are tiny purple flowers. It's so pretty.
The trees all turning a light green on top as they get their leaves.
The Eastern Redbud tree.

The blueberries all blush colored.
Getting the party food ready! We made tortilla pinwheels, cheese and crackers, a cheese ball, carrots, apples, cookies, and peanut butter M&Ms. Madalyn had made lime delight on Tuesday but when her call didn't come the older kids ate it. :)
We got the zoom going with all my family and are waiting for Spencer to gather his friends at BYU.
Madalyn trying to print out her call but the mission portal still had issues and wouldn't go to the print page so she just read it off her phone.
It's go time!!
Our friends, the Hiatts (who just got called to Peru to be mission presidents) and the Huffs (the Hiatt's daughter) came over to watch Madalyn and Spencer open their calls. Madalyn went first and is going to the Illinois Historic Sites mission!! She starts May 30. I was so happy! I was hoping she'd go to a visitor center.
Spencer went next. He opened his with friends in the Helaman Halls lobby. He's going to California, San Jose!! It's right next to my home mission where I grew up and Mama still lives. He also starts May 30! They'll both do a week of home MTC and then go to the Provo MTC June 8. Spencer goes to San Jose June 22 and Madalyn goes to Nauvoo June 29. The Nauvoo Pageant starts July 5 so that'll be fun to be there for it!
Doing a facetime with Kylie and Spencer to talk about their missions. Our excitement was through the roof!
Talking to Kylie and looking at Maddie's mission.
Tucking Tilly in. Every night she asked why we didn't get Madalyn's mission call today and when we'll get it. Tonight she was so happy that we finally did. She was beginning to not believe us that it will ever come.
I got sleeping Tilly out of bed for a family mission call photo.
What a memorable night!

Madalyn's mission boundaries: Nauvoo and Carthage. So cool!
We finally got it to print so here's her official mission call picture.

Tilly drew Madalyn her first picture as a missionary.
Anderson followed and drew Madalyn by a dog and saying, "Good dog."
Friday, April 1: I scheduled Spencer's wisdom teeth removal and our whole list got done! Yay! This is what it says: Madalyn to have her call, Alexis get housing she wants, Spencer has his papers in and a call, Spencer has wisdom teeth scheduled, Spencer has temple figured out, Alexis and Thomas got good parts in Little Women, Braces on Kait, New balustrades, Pantry painted, Buy and hang mirrors.
Explanation: Alexis got in to Heritage so she's thrilled about that. Madalyn and Kaitlyn decided to try out too and all 4 got good parts whereas 20 people didn't even get a part. It's a small cast. Yay for getting all of our family goals done. This is the first time I've written them for all to see but I'm going to keep doing it. We had challenges with all of those things but since we saw then everyday we all prayed for them. And the last day of March they came true!
Friday: working on the driveway ditches that keep flooding when it rains.

Saturday: Watching General Conference
