Monday: Our water heater has been leaking for months but it finally burst and flooded the basement. Sam and Andy were great to take a turn scooping it up. It was ankle deep at first but they (and Thomas) got it cleaned up in no time. I spent the rest of the week calling plumbers and figuring out which replacement to buy. Good thing these kids don't mind cold showers and hand washing dishes and eating simply.
Kaitlyn won the backpack drawing at the library!
Tuesday: Andy made this birthday list for everyone in the family and a stuffed animal named Nolin the Niffler.
Kaitlyn sewing costumes for a play her dolls are doing.
Makenna's burn from flipping pancakes while I was busy with the water heater bursting. It broke right during dinner.
Wednesday: Madalyn telling Spencer and the kids at home her next assignment!! Nauvoo sisters are only there for the summer, from May 1-Nov 1. So she'll spend the winter in Salt Lake City South! That was our mission when we lived in Sandy. Then next May 1 she'll go back to Nauvoo until the end of November when she comes home.
Thomas turns 15.
He got a pull up bar and bible.
We had a primary and youth activity at a pool and the kids wanted me to take pictures of them on the diving board.
Samuel doing a flip.
The perfectly mowed green grass with white fence behind the pool was gorgeous but now it's dark so it's hard to see.
Thursday: Okra flowers. We've never grown okra before so it's fun to see it.
Jumble of tomatoes.
First time growing potatoes too.
Sam and Andy helping me pick herbs and fruits and veggies.
Makenna picked her watermelon she grew and was so excited about it. We had squirrels digging the plant up every day when we first planted it (and all 3 watermelon plants) so she was especially grateful to actually get a fruit off it.
Friday: The 3 little kids made paper snack packs and put snacks in them and have been reusing them and playing a fun game.
Saturday: First campfire in months. It's been too rainy and wet this summer and is normally too hot and humid anyway, but we got some cool dry air so it was fun after a long day of yard work to have foil dinners and marshmallows. We ate our own potatoes, carrots, peppers, and seasonings and added some grass-fed beef. One day we'll have our own beef too!
