Holladay Updates One-by-One: Makenna

First off, the baby of the family, Makenna. She is 17 months old now, so she doesn't seem much like a baby anymore. I don't know how much she weighs, but she is a chunky little thing. Every time I pick her up I can't believe how heavy she is. She was a late teether, getting her first tooth at 13 months. Nevertheless, she eats like an adult: meatloaf, chili, taco soup, and all casseroles. She doesn't care much for the usual toddler foods like cheese, crackers, or fruit loops. Whenever I'm in the kitchen she goes and climbs into her highchair and expects a full meal. Then she has to feed herself and loves to spread it all over her arms and head. Quite the contrast to Kaitlyn who has to wash her hands several times during a meal. The only thing that makes Makenna still seem like a baby is that she doesn't talk. She can generally get what she wants and if she can't she just points and someone gets it for her. She's finally growing hair and is turning into a beautiful little toddler. She just transitioned from two 2-hour naps to one 4-hour nap and then goes to bed at 9 with Spencer. She sleeps in the pack-n-play in the boys' room because there's no room for a crib. I feel bad about that, but she apparently doesn't mind as she takes long naps and sleeps from 9pm-7am everyday. She's a pretty easy baby except that she loves to scatter things about the house: markers, stacking cups, blocks, whatever she's getting into at the moment. She's definitely my messiest baby in that regard but she is also low maintenance in that she is self-entertained and happy to find things to play with.

She wasn't sure what to think about the bird landing on her arm at the bird zoo.

She has no problem climbing up the ladder and going down the slide all by herself. She's very independent and doesn't care if nobody is outside with her.

I took the little kids to Sonic while the big ones were practicing the pageant and she didn't think twice about climbing up the long flights of stairs and going down this big curvy slide.

I love her bright blue eyes

and the color of her hair.

She is so beautiful! What a sweetheart. I can't believe she's so brave to do the slide by herself. I remember being intimidated when I was little.
