Sunday evening: Nathan, Madalyn, and Thomas drove to WY to stay with family and see the eclipse. At home our neighbor called us to come pick some of his vegetables. Andy screamed when some of the kids climbed over the wall without him. So I got him a stool and we watched from a distance. They were so cute skipping in their Sunday dresses and swinging grocery bags. On their way back I snapped a picture. It's hard to see them, but I'll remember the sweet memory of silhouetted children marching across a bright green lawn in their Sunday clothes, after playing amongst the tall corn fields and abundant garden.
Monday: The first pictures of the shadows during the eclipse.
It was fun to see the shadows changing so fast.
Some of our neighbors from our cul-de-sac and over the wall came over to watch it with us.
It was a lot of fun.
Our own shadows were pretty cool. We could see crescents all over them.
Tuesday night the oldest 4 kids were at mutual, Thomas was at scouts, and I just had the younger 5. We spied on the YM/YW cookout going on a few houses down and played in the rain. These 3 had a lot of fun on the swing.
Kaitlyn wanting her picture taken because she liked her curly hair.
Alexis holding Talea for me after I was tired of holding her all day and having trouble getting her to take a nap.
Wednesday night: Our old Greenville Little League team made it to the World Series! We had a fun little party watching them play and win! Unfortunately they lost the US Championships on Saturday.
Thursday: First day of high school for the 3 oldest. We had a fun outdoor lunch with just the younger 7. It feels so empty with the olders gone, but it's nice to be able to focus on these guys' homeschool work while they're gone. They are each taking 3 classes: seminary, orchestra/band, and French/ASL. Kylie and Spencer take orchestra and Madalyn takes band. Kylie and Madalyn take French and Spencer is doing ASL. Luckily we arranged it so all the classes are at the same time so they'll be going on "B" days, (every other day) from 8-1. We miss them and have to rearrange our group subjects to do them when they come home on those days, but they're getting good experiences.
She'll be 2 months old tomorrow!
It looked like Talea was slugging Thomas.
"I can punch him in my sleep."
Samuel fell asleep at 5:40pm. I put him in his bed and he still slept through the night.
He usually goes to bed at 7.
I've been trying to get Andy to sleep in Sam's toddler bed (he's been sleeping in the basement playroom b/c it's cooler down there) but he refuses. So Saturday I figured I'd put his bumpers and sheet on the toddler bed and put it in the same place his crib was and see if I could trick/convince him into sleeping in it. It worked! At least for last night and his nap today. We'll see if it continues to work. Next step is to see if we can move him into the little kids' room because I want to put the crib back here and put Talea in it. Alexis and Andy have been sharing a room while Kait, Kenna, and Sam share. Alexis wants Andy to move in with them and she wants to share with Talea instead. Talea is sleeping 8 hours a night and I'm ready to move her out of the bassinet in our room and into the crib in Lexi's.
Andy wanting Madalyn taking pictures of him.
