Week ending 7-28-19

We had an ok week. Kaitlyn went to activity day camp 2 days. Thomas went to an art camp (that a friend paid for but couldn't attend) 3 days. The 3 oldest girls spent the week at Aunt Sara's and the 3 little girls joined them on Friday for a sleepover. Tuesday we celebrated our 20th anniversary but only got to have a short date because all of our older kids were busy. We ate out and drove through the canyon a bit. We couldn't hike because I hurt my knee camping. But Nathan did work on the taxes for me as an anniversary present. :)
Monday morning: Kaitlyn leaving for activity day camp.
Meanwhile Kylie did many loads of laundry, washing all of our camping clothes and blankets. I had a hurt knee, felt sick, and was taking care of the other kids, so I wasn't very helpful.
After all the laundry was done Kylie, Madalyn, and Alexis re-packed and left for Aunt Sara's for "niece's week"--a week with aunts and girl cousins. Later in the week the 3 little girls got to go.
Kait's soap carving of a wand she made at camp.
Tuesday: Last picture of Talea's crib. I took it down so that she can get out of bed in the mornings and after naps all by herself and I wouldn't have to hobble to get her. Our dear friends in Dallas gave me a gift card to buy this crib when Kylie was born and it has been a huge blessing. I doubt they knew it would sleep 10 children! It was a sad day taking it down.

I got this bedding when Kaitlyn was born so I used it for 3 girls.
I love the drop-down side rail which are now illegal but absolutely a must for me being short and being able to reach the baby.

Talea shares a room with Alexis (who took all her bedding to sleep at Sara's.)
Tilly and Ruth are always hugging, even while supposedly helping me take down the crib.
Bye-bye crib!
Wednesday: Taking pictures of our 24th dinner to send to Kylie (who would show Maddie and Lexi) and say we're missing them. It was a lonely week without them.

Kait's ice cream cone.
Someone's peeling back from being at the lake last week.
Thursday: I took the 5 little kids to the school lunch, library and raw milk farm to get out of the house. At the library we checked on the new park being built in place of the castle park.
Seeing the calves at the raw milk farm and sending the picture to Grandma cause she was texting at the time.
Friday: The 3 little girls joined the older girls at niece's week and I only had the 4 boys. It was a great evening (and most of Saturday)! Spencer went to a friend's house and texted that he was having In 'N 'Out, what were we having? So I said "fruits and vegetables" and sent him this picture. Okay, so they're canned, but Andy asked for green beans and pineapple. We did have some lettuce, blueberries and kiwi, so it wasn't all canned. :) And leftovers for our main dish.
There was a good storm, which was fun. We read scriptures and bedtime books outside watching the wind. Then we saw a beautiful rainbow.

And a double rainbow.
Saturday: Andy and Sam sat on the wall and watched our neighbors use a tractor to clear some land for a playground.

Kaitlyn wanted a picture of her peeling legs.
My first Sunday as a nursery teacher. I've always wanted to be one so although I just got released from RS counselor and put on the RS activities committee I practically begged for this calling too b/c I was afraid I'd get it as soon as my 10th child graduated from nursery. Kaitlyn has been staying with Tilly the past couple of months so she was my helper and showed me the ropes. She told me they stand at the wall while we get the snack table out, which songs we sing, and the behavior to expect from each kid. Luckily we only had 4 kids but usually there are 8.
Evelyn doing a fish face.

This was probably an accident picture but I'll keep it because it reminds me how beautiful Kylie looked today. She and Madalyn performed a piano/organ duet in Sacrament Meeting and they both looked gorgeous and the piece was amazing. I wish I could have recorded it. It was a Pioneer Medley.

Week ending 7-21-19

Wednesday: Off on our trip to Lake Tahoe. Back across Nevada again--still wish they'd moved that state. This time Spencer and Kylie did all the driving so Madalyn and I didn't have to. (They didn't go in May.) It was wonderful!! I got a lot done reading, working on school, and writing in my journal. Plus helped the kids with things.

Madalyn was in the very back corner so you couldn't see her in the above picture but this one turned out blurry b/c of the van shaking.
We stopped in Elko for gas and switch drivers and then in Lovelock where we ate the school lunch at a park. I loved seeing all the kids sitting at the picnic table with their lunch trays and ran to get my camera out of the car but when I came back one child was gone. Then I never remembered to get a picture when she came back. Bummer. It was a precious memory anyway. I love going places with all 10 children. I won't be able to much longer so I'm savoring every minute of it.
Kaitlyn took these pictures after we got our camp set up. We haven't camped in 7 years and this is the first time I actually bought some camping gear, so it was exciting.
New 10 man tent with lights and instant set up.

The view from the road. Across the road is where the rest of my family was camping.
I got an air mattress too. Lexi and I slept on the mattress and the 3 little kids on the floor on the other side. It worked out perfect.
I borrowed this tent for Kylie and Madalyn to sleep in.
My brother brought this tent for Kaitlyn and Makenna to sleep in.
Their stuff. :)
Spencer slept in this hammock.
Thomas slept in a hammock the first night and then the van 2 nights and then my tent the last night.

Roasting hot dogs for dinner.
These pictures are mostly for my family if they want to steal any. Kaitlyn took a lot. :)

Not a very good picture of cousins playing.

After dinner we went to check out the beach. Lake Tahoe is gorgeous!! The weather was a wonderful respite from hot Utah. It was upper 70's during the day and upper 40's at night.
I loved watching all my kids check out the water. It was cold but not too bad.

Tilly tucked in.
Lori tucking Sam and Andy in.
Thursday: Makenna getting buried at the beach.

I went back to camp to give Talea a nap and while I was sitting and reading a lot of cute animals came by. Here's a picture of a little chipmunk.
And a beautiful blue jay on the picnic bench.
Waaayy out there is Spencer on a paddle board we borrowed from a neighbor on the beach while they were taking a snack break. :)
He was a natural.

Madalyn was really good too.
I took Kaitlyn out.

Starting to stand up. I really didn't want to fall in and get wet. :)
Lori
Friday we went for a nature hike with a guide and it turned out really fun.
Tilly was so cute playing in the dirt and pine needles.
Walking across a bridge where the dam was.
Fallen Leaf Lake. I think I liked it better than Tahoe actually. It was so serene and beautiful.

Shane and Makenna, 6 and 7 years old.
The whole hiking crew. Never did get a picture of all the family who came camping.

Kait pushing Caleb in the stroller while we made dinner.
Trish, Makenna, and Lori enjoying their tacos!

My mom and Talea.

Saturday: Another blue jay while it was quiet while Talea napped.

Sunday: Driving home. We were an hour ahead of Brady and he said to send us a picture of the "Football tree."
