Week ending 10-2-22 Hurricane Ian, General Conference

Last Sunday: Playing Blast From the Past, a church card game with Lori and eating popcorn.
Monday: Walking during seminary in the mansion neighborhood. I love the patchy fog around here.
Tilly playing in a bed made from the kitchen table bench.
Wednesday: Grandma and Peepaw sent this picture of them eating on their patio while awaiting Hurricane Ian. They just moved into the temple house Sept 17 as they're the new temple president in Orlando.
Thursday: Ian is coming straight for Lori and us.
Looked like we'd get some excessive rainfall but we only got 1.5".
Here he comes! Ian is huge. It was hitting the Bahamas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina all at the same time. And went as high as DC.
We spent the whole day doing yard work and prepping for Hurricane Ian.
Makenna trimmed the driveway where the mower missed and came walking home carrying her trimmer and a handful of yellow wildflowers. She was so cute.
Kaitlyn and Talea mow and listen to music.
I burned a lot of brush.
And picked tomatoes, okra and cucumbers.
I also dug up a cute little cypress that was growing under two trees and put it in the meadow where it could grow bigger and be seen from the playroom all winter when other trees looked dead.

Samuel busy working on a project.
Sam and Andy using the wildflower garden as their hideout.

We pruned all the grapes on the left but not on the right. The kids wanted to play in them.

Kaitlyn: Playing with 2 gourds I picked.
The front yard looking nice.
The south side looking nice.
I like how white it is; looks like a pretty white farmhouse.
Carrying Tilly on a rake stick.
Friday: Ian is here!
Still a big storm, spreading from SC to NJ.
Aunt Lori is here too! Her college was closed and she was able to come up Friday morning and stay till Sunday night for conference weekend.
It was pretty cold, between 52-57 for 3 days straight day and night so we had our first fire.
Practicing the play since rehearsal was cancelled.
The finale.
Saturday: Conference lunch: cinnamon rolls, fruit salad, sausage/egg/potato casserole, cheesy pull apart bread.

Between sessions we went outside to clean up the yard. There were lots of green leaves stuck everywhere and small branches but thankfully no big damage.

This was the view I took on Thursday. Thick beautiful grass on the east side of our house.
This is what it looked like Saturday morning. A tree down and leaves and branches everywhere.

A huge wasp nest blown from somewhere.

The kids playing Thursday in a clean, pristine yard.
Saturday there were leaves and branches everywhere.
Lori gathered these plus several grocery bags of pecans that fell in the storm.
Sunday: Conference snacks.
