Week ending 9-30-18

We had a normal, busy week.
We don't go many places but homeschooling, housework, and childcare consume our days. I wouldn't have it any other way though.
Monday: We ground a 50 lb bag of wheat. Andy kept the grinder going for an hour or two. Every time the bucket got full he'd shut it off, call Kaitlyn off the trampoline who would dump it into the huge flour bin, then turn it back on and feed it another 15 minutes. He did a great job while I was busy in the kitchen.

I took this picture for Kylie to show her I need her. She was our cheerful dishwasher. Really, she loved her job and chose it above others. She always kept up on it and it was so great. Mondays I have the most energy and today got carried away making bread for dinner, cookies for my FHE treat, and the healthy granola bars I always have on hand for snacks. I figured as long as the oven was on I'd might as well whip up a batch.

My granola bars, 2 loaves of wheat bread, cookies, and a big bowl of grapes I just washed. While I was doing all this cooking and wheat grinding our friend dropped off 2 grocery bags full of grapes, 2 big buckets of apples, and 3 zucchinis. Then a neighbor dropped off a bag of peaches from her tree. Fall harvest time is here! I felt very domestic that day. :)

The zucchini were huge!
Talea feeding Andy her dinner.

I took this picture because Spencer reminds me of someone on a computer game or old maid card game from my youth. I'm still trying to figure it out. Maybe my sisters can help me remember. Besides that, I love seeing Talea climb up on his lap and how gentle and sweet he is with her.

Later she brought him a book and he actually read it. I say that because it was a Paw Patrol book which he hates. The little kids are into it and he's sick of hearing about it and pretends to not let anything Paw Patrol into our house. So when I saw him reading one to her when he could have picked out a different one and she wouldn't care, I thought it was tender. He'll do anything for this baby.

Tuesday: Getting ready for our "Fall that's all!" party.

First thing: picking out pumpkins

Next item: making party foods. We had a fruit platter, veggies, rice cakes with meat and cheese and spouts or peanut butter, Wasa crackers with pizza toppings, a fruit, lettuce, and sprout smoothie, and I relented and let the kids warm up one pan of our old party foods before I started insisting on real food. I don't know who took these pictures, but here they are.
Most of our fruit now comes from neighbors, friends or a farmer's market.
Organic wild rice cakes with organic peanut butter, granola, and sprouted pumpkin seeds. (Except for the one someone snuck candycorn on:))

The little kids went trick-or-treating as soon as the decorations were out and Talea quickly joined in.

Thursday: Spencer learned this entry did not qualify for concerto night. He is super mad but played it for Aunt Sara nevertheless.
Friday: Art day

Talea randomly got a tiny bible and started leading the music and singing.
I'm not sure whose lunch this is but they'll come looking for it on my blog so I'd better post it.
Makenna's lunch of fish, couscous, peaches from our neighbor, salad greens, and a zucchini muffin.

And raw milk too.
Saturday: Playing in the sprinkler on a walk.
It's been in the upper 80's but it's supposed to cool off this week.
