Week Ending 4-28-19

Last Sunday: Easter! A whole wheat Easter cinnamon roll braid. 

Crashed out after church. 

Easter dinner. It was sad not having Kylie here for her first Easter dinner away from us but she had finals on Saturday and Monday so it wasn't a good weekend to come home. She had a really nice Easter service in her ward though that she was excited to participate in. Plus it was the last Sunday of the semester so she had a lot of people to say goodbye to. 

After dinner I wanted some Easter pictures of the whole family or at least the girls. Nathan, Spencer and Thomas didn't want to be in any pictures and wouldn't even come outside and take ours so that I could be in a picture with my girls, but oh well. At least these 2 wanted to be in pictures. They are best friends.

I got Samuel to take a few pictures of us. Most turned out super blurry but there were a few salvageable ones. 

Monday: We did a bacteria testing assignment for a few days, determining where in our house has the most bacteria. We each picked 4 places to test. 

These 2 petri dishes were mine. I tested the bathroom light switch, the back door light switch, my mouth, and the microwave handle. The microwave handle actually grew the very first bacteria of anyone's. My mouth only grew one spot after a week. 

These 2 were Lexi's. She tested raw milk, raw milk after eating all the Cheerios in her cereal bowl, a dirty spoon and knife, and a clean spoon. The dirty utensils grew bacteria fairly fast but the raw milk was actually one of the last to grow--after 6 days.

Thomas did the remote and telephone, and a dirty and clean washcloth. He forgot to get his swab wet when swiping the remote and phones so they didn't grow anything for a long time, but the dirty wash cloth grew fast.

These 2 were Kaitlyn's. She tested the sink handle, fridge handle, remote control for a motorcycle, and her toothbrush. The remote control grew first and fastest and ended up with the most. Everything else had hardly any.

Tuesday: Kaitlyn fell off the trampoline and face planted her scooter, cutting her lip in several places. We had already had dinner and scripture reading and were just about to part ways, figuring out who's going where for mutual activities, who's picking Spencer up from orchestra, etc when it happened. So Alexis volunteered to stay home and put the little boys to bed, Madalyn picked up Spencer and then they and Thomas walked to mutual, and I took Kaitlyn, Makenna, and Talea to urgent care. 

She really wasn't thrilled to be getting stitches. She was super cute though how sad she was when really our family likes injuries.

All done! Six stitches: Three on one cut, one on another cut, and two dissolvable ones on the inside of her lip. He wanted to do 1-2 more on another cut but she just wanted to be done so he left it and I think it's healing fine since it's on the inside.

The next morning. 

Thursday: Some lovely outdoor reading time while the older kids were at seminary. I don't have a picture of me in my chair, but I enjoyed it too as the weather was so nice and the kids were fairly content. 

Friday: Madalyn went down to Provo to help Kylie pack and move out of her dorm. She grabbed a bunch of suitcases and boxes to take to Kylie and that triggered Sam and Andy to go on a trip too. They put all the clothes they owned plus toothbrushes and away they went on a trip! 

Saturday: Attempting to get Kait's stitches out. The doctor said to come back in 3 days but Friday was so busy (I only had the 6 little kids plus friends over) that the best time to go was at 8:30pm when Spencer got home to babysit. But when I called urgent care they said the wait would be super long. So I took her Saturday morning instead. After over an hour wait the doctor came in (a different one) and said she wasn't going to take them out at day 4, only day 5 and to come back tomorrow. I was so annoyed after all that hassle and stress of Friday (the doctor had said if he didn't take them out on day 3 it would leave railroad tracks on her face), worrying about the doctor getting after me if I didn't come that day, and now she was sending me home.

Anyway, these are pictures of Kait's last day with stitches we took before we knew we'd be sent home for another day.

Sunday: Usually I end my blog on Saturday, but to finish the story, I ran Kaityn over this afternoon when, in the middle of a family party, I had the feeling now would be a good time to go. I'm glad we went because there was only a 5 minute wait and we got the same doctor who put them in.

Here are 2 nurses taking them out. The scab had grown over the stitches so it was a bit difficult. But they're out and Kaitlyn is happy.
