Week ending 9-4-22 Anderson's birthday, yard and school work

Last Sunday: I was washing dishes when I hear Samuel say, "Andy's biting me!" and then, "Mom, Andy bit me and his tooth popped out!" Apparently they were rough housing and Andy got mad and bit Sam's knee and his little bottom tooth popped out. There was a tooth growing way behind it so it wasn't very loose but Andy wouldn't wiggle it either cause he said it hurt so I was really happy the tooth finally came out.
This is the note he left for the tooth fairy.
I asked Thomas to cut the lowest branch down by the cow pasture so that we could get a better view of the mountains. When I went down to see if he needed help I couldn't believe how small he looked and the ladder and Kaitlyn compared to the tree limb he was going to cut.
Kaitlyn and I held the ladder and Thomas was able to cut most of the way through. Then we pulled it down the rest of the way. I love the pasture and mountains beyond.

Tuesday: I came in the front door after working outside and found an orchestra: Tilly on piano, Andy on cello, and Samuel on recorder. It was quite the noise!
A ripped paper mosaic art project.
An x-ray from Andy and Tilly playing doctor. "B" means "broke" and "S" means "sprained." This poor child got in a pretty bad accident.
Wednesday: Reading at the park before going to the bookmobile.
Samuel showing me a "grabber" he made for Andy's birthday present.
It can pick up pieces of paper.
Thursday: Anderson turns 7! He made brownies with a chocolate road and green grass and a white house with the garbage truck coming to pick up the trash.

Enjoying brownies and ice cream after a yummy taco lunch. We really missed the 4 older kids; it's weird doing birthdays without them, especially Alexis who always helps with the cakes, but we got to do a video call with them later.
I gave him balloons, Kaitlyn gave him a niffler with a gift card she had, Grandma sent a card and $20, and Samuel made him that grabber.
Friday: raking up the grass clipping while Thomas mows.

Our very overgrown garden.
Gourds have grown out each side of one of the raised beds.
This was originally the pumpkin patch.
June 6 when we planted pumpkins.
The okra stalks are so thick.
With lots of okra on them.
Mama got Andy a semi truck that can fit on our mat that has Greenville NC drawn on it. It's a Tesla semi and little car! The kids love Teslas.
Doing science and learning about radar. They had to push the skewer through the paper towel to see how far it could go down and then measure it. There were 34 little boxes drawn on the paper towel so they did it in all 34 boxes to map out what was on this planet. It represented the spacecraft Mariner going to Venus and sending off radar through it's thick atmosphere to see what's there.

This is what was under the paper towel to represent mountains and valleys.
Saturday: These flowers started off so tiny May 1 and now they've really filled in this whole space. There are always lots of butterflies and I'm really glad we trimmed the bushes and planted impatients.

Samuel and Makenna played outside together from 1-5:30 without ever coming inside. It was fun watching them through the window all afternoon.
Andy kneeling between the grape vines.
Our garden is so huge and overgown that it's hard to even see Talea in it. We really need to get working on it this week.
This is about the same view, just 6 weeks ago on July 10. It was neat and orderly then but with all the rain we've kinda let the garden go and just gone out to pick fruits and veggies while the weeds got out of control.
Makenna's second watermelon. She's so proud of it! The squirrels kept digging up the plants when we first planted them so we thought we'd get no watermelons at all.
We have lots of spontaneous gourds growing from the ones we threw in the compost pile last year.
Talea ready for bed with curlers Kait put in her hair.

A little note and gift Tilly left for me. Alexis used to do the same thing, knowing how much I love nature. They're so sweet!
